Biographical
Colm Brannigan holds the designations of Chartered Mediator and Chartered Arbitrator from the ADR Institute of Canada, Inc and is also the first person in Canada to have the ADRIC Chartered Med-Arbitrator designation. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the U.K. and was one of the first Canadian mediators to be certified by the International Mediation Institute in the Netherlands.
Colm has an Ontario wide practice and has mediated, arbitrated, and provided med-arb services in a wide variety of subject matter areas including condominium, construction, real estate, corporate, commercial, contract, partnerships and shareholders agreements, commercial landlord and tenant, property and commercial insurance, family business transition, municipal, land use and technology.
Colm is a firm believer in the importance of negotiation, conflict management, and early intervention in dispute resolution and provides consulting and training services to a variety of corporate and organizational clients.
Colm has written materials on Alternative Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management for various groups and programs. He has participated in numerous professional development and educational programs and workshops including provincial and national conferences.
Colm has an interest in the application of technology to dispute management and resolution and is a leading Canadian expert and proponent of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR). He has written the chapter on ODR in the CCH Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Manual.
Colm was a member of the ADRIC’s National Medâ€Arb Rules/ Guidelines Working Group and a co-chair of the ADRIC Task Force on Online Dispute Resolution. He is also a member of the ADRIO Skills Assessment Committees for both the Q. Med. and C. Med. Designations.
Colm also publishes an e-newsletter, “ADR Notes” and is the founder of the “Mediate-Canada”, “Arbitrate-Canada” and “ODR Canada” Groups on LinkedIn.
